Vintage Barbie
Television Commercials |
"You can tell it's Mattel.
It's Swell." |

| Someday I'm going to
be, exactly like you. Until then, I know just
what I'll do. Barbie, oh beautiful
Barbie, I'll make believe I'm
you. Lovely #3 and #4
Ponytails model fashions
in this 1960 commercial. How many dolls would you
like to buy for $3? |

A
2004 article
about their "break-up"
said, "Barbie met
Ken on the set of a TV
commercial in 1961,
according to Mattel, and
they have been
inseparable ever since. It was hinted the
separation may be
partially due to Ken's
reluctance to get
married. This is the tv
ad they're
talking about. :o) |

| "Barbie daydreams with
you"... Football
player Ken looks like a
bend-leg to me.
That would date it to
1964, but the Bubble cut
looks like a 1961 issue.
I love how they
showed the Masquerade
fashions. Very
artistic. |

"Five of your
favorite friends." Undoubtedly a 1965
Mattel commercial
announcing Barbie's 'new
look' with the
bend-legs, American
Girl, Midge, Skipper,
Allan and Ken.
What a cute retro
commercial with a snappy
song. |
